We talk to Annie Kuntz, a local community midwife. We discuss her birth experiences (4 children all home births and 2 ended up in transfers to hospitals), her journey to becoming a midwife, misconceptions around midwifery and home births (to include safety and hospital transfers), the differences between the obstetric model of care versus the midwifery model of care, and so much more. She also goes over her stats from 2020 to include: total births attended, transfer rate, C-section rate, water birth rate, VBAC rate, etc. Not everyone is aware of the different options available in our “small” city.
